The Braybrooke Neighbourhood Plan was agreed at the 2020 Annual Meeting of the Parish.
A Steering Group was formed on 15 June 2020.
A questionnaire to canvass residents views received 119 responses. The analysis of these responses can be downloaded as a pdf by clicking here
At its meeting on 7 December (for details see the minutes on the “Neighbourhood Plan” page) the Steering Group formed three “Theme Groups” covering housing, environment, and sustainability. Between January and June 2021 these groups examined the issues raised, formulating objectives, exploring options for achieving them, and building up the evidence to support them.
A “Special Edition (April 2021)” of The Gossip about that work illustrated the scope of the Neighbourhood Plan. It was circulated in advance of the Annual Parish Meeting on 9 May, and may be downloaded as a pdf by clicking here.
Some aspects took time to resolve however, and with the rush to take long-delayed holidays as lockdown eased, it was not until November 2021 that we had a reasonably complete draft plan and could hold a face-to-face consultation event. A second “Special Edition” of The Gossip was produced as an invitation to that consultation event. It may be downloaded as a pdf by clicking here
The consultation event took place on 13 November. A report on it can be downloaded as a pdf by clicking here. Taking account of comments made at that time, the draft Plan was prepared for formal consultation. The formal consultation process began on 6 February 2022. All residents were invited by means of an “Extra Page” in the February 2022 edition of The Braybrooke Gossip, and other stakeholders were invited to submit comments in individual letter. The “Extra Page” maybe downloaded as a pdf by clicking here.
After consideration of the formal consultation, the Steering Group amended the draft Plan. The resulting Plan was approved by the Parish Council on 17 May 2022 and on 24 May it was submitted to NNC who confirm that it meets the legal requirements. The Plan as submitted may be seen here.
NNC carried out their own formal consultation between 13 June and 25 July 2022. With the agreement of the Parish Council they then appointed a government examiner who began work on 21st November 2022 to provide independent confirmation that the Plan meets legal requirements. After final amendments to the Plan it was then accepted by the NNC Executive and submitted to a referendum of the parish.
The parish referendum decided on the question below:
“Do you want North Northamptonshire Council to use the neighbourhood plan for Braybrooke to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area?” and took place on Thursday, 27th April 2023 between the hours of 7am and 10pm.
The Braybrooke Neighbourhood Plan was formally “made” by North Northamptonshire Council’s Executive on 8th June 2023. It now forms part of the development plan for North Northamptonshire and from hereon will be used to assist in the determination of planning applications in the Braybrooke Neighbourhood Area.
The making of the Plan is confirmed by the publication of the decision statement under Regulation 19 and publication of the Braybrooke Neighbourhood Plan (Made Version) under Regulation 20 of the Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012 (as amended).
