As one of our Flood Wardens, you will play a vital role in helping the Parish Council to reduce flood risk and to protect Braybrooke and our residents from the impact of flooding.
You will work closely with the Parish Council, our community, local authorities, the Environment Agency, local emergency planning teams and emergency services to reduce the risk of flooding, monitor weather conditions, provide timely communication, and ensure effective emergency responses.
Responsibilities:
Work with local authorities to ensure proper flood defences are in place.
Regularly inspect local watercourses, drains, and culverts for blockages or damage and report issues to the appropriate authorities.
Assist in creating and maintaining a Community Flood Plan in collaboration with the parish council and local authorities.
Identify and support vulnerable residents, ensuring they receive necessary assistance before, during, and after flooding incidents.
Monitor local water levels and weather forecasts and communicate flood warning and safety information to residents
Provide real-time updates on flood conditions to the parish council, residents and relevant agencies during flood events.
Encourage community enrolment in the Environment Agency’s Flood Warning Service to ensure timely alerts.
