The Parish Council is pleased to announce that the much-anticipated Griffin Trail, a new footpath linking Braybrooke to Market Harborough, is approaching its final stages of completion. This scenic pathway will provide a safe and accessible route for walkers, cyclists, and outdoor enthusiasts, offering an excellent opportunity to enjoy the natural beauty of our surrounding countryside.
We are proud that the Griffin Trail will be the first development within the North Northamptonshire Greenway strategy. This is a long-term initiative aimed at creating a network of safe, accessible, and sustainable walking and cycling routes across the region. The strategy seeks to connect towns, villages, and key destinations while promoting healthier lifestyles, reducing reliance on car travel, and enhancing the natural environment. By integrating with existing pathways and creating new green corridors, the Greenway Strategy supports local biodiversity and provides opportunities for recreation, tourism, and community engagement. It is part of the broader vision for sustainable growth and
environmental stewardship across North Northamptonshire.
To offer a glimpse of the progress, here are two photographs of the trail during its early construction phase. These images reflect the significant effort that has gone into creating a sturdy and reliable pathway for the community’s use. The Griffin Trail is poised to become a valued resource for the entire community, promoting health and well-being through outdoor activity. Whether for a leisurely weekend stroll, daily dog walking, or a scenic cycle ride, this route will cater to a wide variety of interests. The trail is also ideally suited for use by local groups and organisations for activities
such as nature walks, charity events, and group outings.
For cyclists, the Griffin Trail offers more than just a local pathway; it also connects with the Brampton Valley Way, opening up a range of road-free cycling opportunities. From this link, it is possible to cycle safely to a number of nearby attractions, including Waterloo Farm, where a relaxing coffee stop can be enjoyed, The Bull at Arthingworth for a meal or drink, or the scenic Kelmarsh Hall and Gardens. These destinations provide excellent opportunities for leisurely rides and enjoyable day trips.
The Griffin Trail is hoped to become a hub for community engagement. Walking, running and nature enthusiasts are encouraged to make regular use of this newly developed pathway. Furthermore, its natural surroundings will offer an inviting environment for photographers, bird watchers, and those with an interest in the local flora and fauna.
In addition to its recreational benefits, the Griffin Trail provides an opportunity for the community to come together in its upkeep and enhancement. The Parish Council is considering the formation of a community group dedicated to the care and maintenance of the trail. This group would work to ensure the trail remains a safe, clean, and pleasant environment for all users, with potential activities including regular litter collection, tree planting, and monitoring the condition of the path.
